Electric Utility Substation (Protection & Controls) Design
The client is a full service engineering firm that is expanding and is seeking a add to their team to support clients in the area of power line (distribution) design. Our company provides technical services to the electric utilities industry. Services include power line (Transmission and Distribution) engineering, electric Substation and Protection & Controls (P&C) engineering, construction and construction management, drafting, permitting, system development, and others. Because our business is primarily based in the electric utility industry, a candidate with experience in this industry is a requirement.
The selected candidate will be responsible for the detailed electrical schematic design for high voltage substation protection & control projects. These projects may require a minimal amount of site visits for data collection and verification.
Obtain and interpret panel AC and DC elementary drawings and transfer information to panel remotes and other drawings
Obtain and interpret manufacturer's drawings and use information obtained to do point to point wiring on client's elementary, remotes, wiring and other drawings.
Obtain interpret and utilize information from client's information database (AIM, AMP, PUR etc.) to verify, modify or analyze information received from engineers or from the field to carry out point to point wiring.
Obtain and interpret elementary drawings for client's protection and control equipment and utilize information to verify or modify remotes, wiring or other related drawings.
Obtain and interpret information on panels, relay racks or other drawings and modify to relate to other panels, relay racks or other wiring diagrams.
Understand and utilize the concept of representing; additions, removals and modification of devices, circuits and equipment on client's drawings.
Carry out other wiring activities related to but not limited to those mentioned above.
Develop designs that establish and maintain proper clearance requirements for High Voltage Equipment and the safe work practices as established by the NESC and OSHA.
Liaise with relevant engineers or specialists to verify client's requirements.
Provide technical assistance and training to less experienced employees.
Protection and control system design including development of complete engineering design package for Protection/Control and communication including one-line, three-line, DC and AC schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts and interconnection diagrams.
Very familiar with electrical schematics, designs, and symbols.
At least a 4 year technical degree. Professional License (PE) is a plus.
Field Experience is a plus
Utility and/or consulting engineering firm experience is a plus
AutoCAD or Microsoft experience is a plus.
