Release Manager

Location: Sydney CBD, New South Wales Salary: competitive
Sector: IT Type: contract

One of my large Sydney CBD clients are looking for an Implementation Coordinator (essentially a Release Manager) to come on board for a 6 month contract that is likely to extend well beyond that.

The purpose of the role:

  • Responsible for detailed deployment planning of a specific release
  • Managing and executing overall implementation schedule, business and technology requirements, and associated tasks
  • Coordinates release implementation planning meetings with key stakeholders to identify expectations and constraints
  • Identifies dependencies for the release activities and documents associated actions
  • Participates in release execution activities
  • Provides associated support services as required
  • Provides an implementation consulting service to all projects and releases
  • Proactively build's capability to grow the release service offering

The responsibilities:

  • Oversees all implementation activities related to specific releases and coordinates deliverables with all stakeholders
  • Responsible for the successful implementation of a specific release
  • Performs deployment planning and co-ordination with affected stakeholders
  • Communicates the status of release implementations
  • Identification of resources (hardware, software, processes and procedures, and staff) required for a release
  • Creates a plan for continuity of service including roll back steps and go/no-go timings of activities
  • Management of risks and issues related to the deployment activities
  • Creating the deployment run-sheet for physical deployment
  • Co-ordinating all parties that have tasks to perform during the deployment
  • Based on input from associated stakeholders including time, issues and risk during the deployment, makes decision to roll back the release
  • Provides post deployment reports including improvement recommendations for other deployments
  • Provides support to all stakeholders while release environments are in use


The required experience:

  • Recognised ITIL knowledge and expertise
  • Completion of Relevant (IT or Business) Tertiary studies
  • 7 Year's experience in IT technical management
  • 3 Year's experience in project management
  • Experience managing $5m+ of annual change in a complex landscape
  • Attention to detail
  • Well developed interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to achieve outcomes through persuasion
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
