Project Engineer - 12 Month Contract - Kent

Location: Kent, England Salary: £32 - £35 per hour +

I have a requirement for a Project Engineer for a 12 month contract in Kent.

Rate: £30-35 per hour

Working within the Product Design & Implementation team providing support across the whole turnkey project from an Engineering perspective for a confidential client to deliver genset power to small scale power stations.

This is a mainly office based role with approximately 25% travel within the UK.

They need a great communicator, who can collaboratively push the project forward, offering new ideas and suggestions to the team.


Cross Functional Engagement with Stakeholders and Customers: Work pro-actively to increase communications with internal and external customers including but not limited to: Distribution, Commissioning, Procurement, Quality and Health Safety and Environmental (HSE).

Project Management: Work with the project management team and project coordinators to deliver to established milestones, generate accurate forecasting, understand project financials, and work collaboratively to ensure we are meeting customer expectations.

Project Engineering: Own all technical aspects of a project from sales handover to commissioning. This includes coordination of a project technical team, AutoCAD drawings for P&ID and Single Line Diagrams, development of technical specifications, cable schedules, interconnection diagrams, etc. and approval of all designs with respect to customer requirements.

Additional Skills:

Communication Skills: Shall have the ability to communicate complicated technical solutions effectively to management, customers, and end users of paralleling systems projects. Be able to work with customers to solve complex application problems and travel to customer locations to influence the application design.

Generator System & Switchgear Design - Specialist in principles, techniques, and procedure to interpret complex customer specifications to design onsite power generation systems that meet the requirements for protection, safety, and product performance.

System Operation & Protection for Low and Medium Voltage Applications - Understanding of all aspects of both low and medium voltage applications.

Lean Burn Natural Gas Generators - Understanding of Lean Burn Natural Gas Generators, their operation, and the ability to design balance of plant equipment such as radiators, heat recovery equipment, exhaust systems, lube oil systems, gas fuel systems, and the packaging of all components, including working knowledge of DSEAR, FMEA, HAZOP/HAZID study requirements etc.

Related Industry Codes and Standards - Understanding of the CE Machinery Directive, Noise Directive, Low Voltage Directive, EMC Directive, Pressure Equipment Directive as well as UK statutory regulations such as the Electricity at Work Regulations, Construction Design and Management (CDM) regulations etc.
