Mechanical/Piping Designer

Progressive Global Energy has an urgent need for a Mechanical Piping Designer in Midland, TX. The position is with a large Midstream Oil and Gas Operator looking for candidates with Mechanical piping design on Midstream projects, must have recent experience using Cadworx, be able to create a P&ID design from scratch. The position will be the sole designer based in Midland supporting the engineering team so if candidates have some knowledge in I&E or a diverse background that would be a plus.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Perform as a member of the Engineering Team in Midland, TX office, and contribute to the Design effort for multi-discipline projects
  • Support the design and drafting needs of the Engineering Team in Midland, TX
  • Perform As-Built work on engineering and operations managed projects
  • Create and modify pump, launcher/receiver, LACT unit, and various other equipment drawings and models
  • Provide input and guidance on drafting standards for Company projects
  • Develop written job scopes and review vendor drawings
  • Maintain Project Documentation and File structures
  • Proactively looks for improvements in the Engineering work processes
  • Helps develops Company Standards based on installed equipment and improved technologies
  • Create and modify Isometrics, P&IDs, PFDs, General Arrangement Drawings, Plot Plans, and Details for project engineers
  • Produce 3D models and make corrections and additions to existing models

Required Qualifications:

    • 5+ years experience in design and drafting supporting pipeline, plant, oilfield, or similar operations
    • Broad drafting experience utilizing AutoCAD
    • CADWorx Pro experience required
    • Possess a broad understanding piping, facilities, tanks, electrical, and instrumentation, and how all of the disciplines connect and affect one or the other
    • Must possess strong team leadership, coaching and mentoring skills
    • Strong oral and written communications skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently
    • Must be willing to travel
  • Two year degree or equivalent

Candidates must be local to Midland or willing to relocate there on their own; however, competitive hourly rates will be offered to candidates that relocate to Midland on their own. This is a full-time, 1 year contract position that will be ongoing/indefinite. Most of our contractors in this group stay for several years. We offer full benefits and 401k to ourW2 contract employees and overtime pay.
