Evolving Hybrid & Remote Jobs In The Food & Beverage Industry

Manufacturing has lagged behind other sectors that have embraced remote working to attract and retain top talent throughout the pandemic and beyond. In a white-hot recruitment market this has been a problem, particularly for hiring STEM talent.

More than half (55%) of candidates reported that flexible working is important to them when looking for a new job.

Workers in manufacturing jobs were far less likely to work remotely during the pandemic lockdowns.

Last year, the World Economic Forum noted that the nature of the manufacturing industry, with its manual processes, had made the switch to remote work a challenge.30 It said that just 46% of the industry had enabled remote monitoring processes.

Introducing technologies and working practices that allow greater flexibility presents an opportunity to become a more attractive employer to top talent. It also means that companies struggling to find good people can look further afield for key candidates, theoretically anywhere in the world.

“We are seeing an increase in remote work jobs for engineers due to technological improvements, which have dramatically opened up the candidate pool.”
