Progressive Global Energy is recruiting for a Project Controls Specialist for a Large Energy Company for their Nuclear plant in Seneca, SC. We are looking for 1 of 3 essentials: 1) estimating 2) scheduling and 3) cost functions. If a candidate is only proficient in one of the 3, they can be trained on the other 2. Client has had success with hiring people from all backgrounds including true finance people. If you are a scheduler with P6 experience then you will be considered. In this role the Project Controls Specialist will work alongside schedulers, estimators, cost analyst, engineers, and project managers. Basically working with every function involved to run plant in one group. We are looking for candidates who can be committed for the long haul as there is a large amount of work forecasted for the next 6 years. Client will be investing in this person heavily with training, development, and equipment needed to be successful. This is in a Nuclear plant but candidates do not have to be a nuclear background (i.e. gas, T&D, finance, construction backgrounds are applicable).

This is a long-term 3 year contract that will keep extending or go direct hire with the Energy Company. For the first 6 months of the contract candidates will be required to be on site full-time for extensive training. However, after training is complete the candidate will work a hybrid schedule of 2 days in the plant and 2 days working from home. The work schedule is a 4/10 meaning they work 10 hour days Mon-Thurs and have every Friday off work. Non-local candidates will be provided a daily per diem. We offer competitive hourly rates with over time at time and a half, and full benefits to our contract employees (medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, etc.)

  • Workers at this level are responsible for performing complex aspects of individual project estimating, scheduling, change documentation and cost control while reporting up to program or portfolio level with minimal supervision.
  • Workers are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues.
  • They are fully competent in use of project controls principles and procedures .
  • They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. This position typically is assigned to projects classified as Green III or Brown per the Project Management Center of Excellence Project Profile Matrix, or may manage multiple smaller (i.e. Green II) projects.


  • Graduation from a four-year college or university - business, finance, project management, engineering, technical, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project controls experience.
  • Minimum of 9 years of project controls experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficient in project controls principles.
  • Proficiency / Expertise with project management / project controls concepts / computer applications / analytics; strong collaborative team member.
  • Preferred Masters - business, finance, project management, or equivalent.
  • Preferred PMI or AACE certification (the following or equivalent are acceptable - PMP, CAPM, PMI-SP, AACE-CCC, AACE-PSP, AACE-CEP, AACE-EVP).
  • Preferred Software such as MS Project/MS Office Suite, Primavera, Business Objects, Prolog, Passport, Visio, Powerplant, Emax, PeopleSoft.
  • Preferred Risk management tools / Monte Carlo analysis
