We are looking to hire an Engineering Technologist to support electrical distribution projects in the Jonesville, NC Area.

Duties:

The Distribution Zone Engineering Division is looking to add an Engineering Technologist to provide technical expertise to solve more complex problems and leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Workers are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence. Provides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems in area of expertise.   • Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring of work activities
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and sketches
  • Strives to continually improve job-related, technical, professional knowledge, skills and performance
  • Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities
  • Conducts engineering and related studies
  • Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills
  • Maintains accurate records and files
  • Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience as an Engineer/Engineering Technologist/Engineering Specialist in a relatable field (includes internships)
  • B.S. in engineering technology OR associate degree in engineering technology OR 6+ years of equivalent experience without degree.
  • Experience in an Engineering Technologist/Specialist or similar role within Distribution is preferred
  • Proven competency in all aspects of the Distribution Specialist roles
  • Understanding of basic electricity and power quality
  • Knowledge of Distribution construction standards and methods
  • Thorough understanding of Electric Distribution materials, work procedures, and work dependencies is preferred
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of higher-level analysis programs and tools is preferred
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering, engineering degree is desirable but not essential
  • Proficient with enterprise asset management systems software - Maximo, Smallworld and GIS
  • BOUD experience is a plus
  • Effective oral and written communication skills; able to establish and maintain successful communication with all stakeholders at various levels
  • Ability To Plan, analyze, organize, and implement several projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Proven ability to collaborate efficiently with teams consisting of other drafters, designers, and engineers
  • Must be a motivated, self-driven individual with a passion for the work

Additional Notes:

  • Thorough understanding of Electric Distribution materials, work procedures, and work dependencies preferred
  • Self-directed self-motivated, savvy, reliable, trustworthy, as well as technically competent
