This position is responsible for analyzing existing lighting poles for possible small cell colocation opportunities. If the lighting pole will not work for colocation, then the Colocation Design Engineer will seek to identify alternative locations. Once a suitable location is found, this individual will design, engineer, estimate, and project manage colocation jobs within the state of Georgia. The candidate must be able to accurately bill communication providers according to individual contracts, correctly engineer job packages, and communicate effectively with internal and external customers in a timely manner.

Duties:

  • Work with the Colocation Product Manager, the Colocation Construction Coordinator, and others as needed to facilitate an effective small cell implementation according to all communication provider and industry standards.
  • Conduct reviews of potential small cell locations in DistView, Google Earth and CSS to determine if they will be a candidate for small cell colocation.
  • Engineer jobs in JETS and ensure that all equipment - wiring, disconnect boxes, etc. are procured.
  • Review all drawings from the communications provider including desired location, height of antenna, fiber connections, small cell remote radio units, and proper equipment is included.
  • Perform pole loading analysis on all proposed poles.
  • Complete all colocation engineering related fields in the Varasset workflow management tool.
  • Ensure that all labor and materials are charged to the correct DWE for each colocation project and all parties are billed and paid correctly.

Requirements:

  • Strong analytical skills - Degreed Engineers typically meet this set (but a degreed engineer is not absolutely required)
  • Strong communications skills (verbally and in written form) are REQUIRED
  • Bckground in Transmission, Distribution, or Telecommunication
  • Candidates with "Make Ready work" experience is preferred (A general understanding of "Make Ready Work" refers to all work performed or to be performed to prepare conduit systems, poles or anchors and related facilities for the requested occupancy or attachment).
  • Candidates with 0-5 years of experience will be considered - co-ops, EOC, internships preferred
  • Former lineman with strong computer skills will be considered
  • Any experience with 4G/5G installations would be a plus but not required.
  • Understanding of Pole loading would be good but again not required.
  • Proficiency with a computer including the ability to use Microsoft Office
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or 4 plus years of equivalent experience, Bachelor of Science in Engineering desired.
  • Ability to build strong relationships at all levels and across organizational groups to include both internal and external customers.
  • Organizational, analytical, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently within project timelines and budgets.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to grasp concepts and the changing technology associated with the wireless industry.

Additional Notes:

  • Must be able to travel - candidate that only uses Public Transportation will not be considered
  • To work remotely, must have access to the internet daily
  • Experience in telecommunications with emphasis on small cells is desired.
  • Proficiency with a computer including the ability to use Microsoft Office, JETS, CSS, LAMP, CAMP and DistView and Varasset. (Some of these are proprietary software for the client so external candidates may not be familiar with them).
