American Clean Power Week 2022

From August 15-19, 2022, Progressive celebrates American Clean Power Week to help spread awareness of clean energy’s economic and social benefits.

The clean energy industry, which includes renewable energy, is revolutionizing the way we generate and use electricity. Technological advances within the industry are creating the solutions needed to combat the disastrous effects of climate change.

In addition to powering a cleaner, safer future, the clean energy transition will create millions of jobs and significantly reduce dependency on imported energy.

Jobs in Clean Energy

The booming renewable energy industry needs trained, qualified talent to help the U.S. keep up with a soaring demand for electricity. According to the World Resources Institute, modernizing America’s electric grid infrastructure could create 150,000 to 200,000 full-time jobs each year through 2030.

The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, signed in November 2021, provides funding for infrastructure upgrades and new spending to the tune of $1 trillion. The effect will result in boosting competitiveness within the industry to create better jobs. Increased reliance on clean energy will require a host of specialized profiles to produce, manage and distribute clean energy, from engineering talent to administrative and corporate professionals.

The Biden-Harris Administration is prioritizing the expansion of clean power and sees it as a major contributing factor in connecting more people to good-paying jobs that provide opportunities for financial success. The goal is strengthening America’s clean energy workforce through union density and increased opportunities for diverse people. Raising the standards for salaries, benefits, and flexibility in the industry is only going to further propel the engineering job market.

Additionally, these new initiatives are designed to lower electricity costs for more American families and increase access to power for underprivileged and historically overlooked people, creating equity in housing across the nation through clean energy.

Black History Month

01 Feb 2023

Celebrating Black History Month, we want to highlight some African American Professionals in Engineering. Alexander Miles was an African American Inventor who created the automatic elevator door in 1887. His invention ✨ opened the door ✨ for people of color in the engineering space and he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2007. At Progressive Recruitment, we aim to drive equality in STEM careers, through our STEM Equity Coalition which works to change the STEM landscape for underrepresented people.
