I am currently recruiting for a mechanical project engineer for a position based in the Hull area. This is a 6-12-month contract position, Inside IR35.


The Project Mechanical Engineer is a key engineering role responsible for providing support to the operations leadership team to successfully execute capital projects. The role will be responsible for setting up and maintaining high standards of safety, statutory compliance, and continuous improvement to enable safe, legal operation at 95% availability from the plant assets.

Role specific responsibilities

  • Create and review technical documentation including drawings, plans and specifications
  • Manage supplier relationships to assist with tracking project performance
  • Perform technical calculations to validate and support design work
  • Collaborate with stakeholders including multi-disciplinary engineering teams, vendors and contractors
  • Compile detailed documentation to assist with tracking project development and design processes
  • Ensuring Mechanical Engineering compliance with all management systems including those associated with ISO9001, ISO14001, OHSAS18001 and FEMAS.
  • Ensuring all inspections and maintenance procedures are in place to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Deputy to Mechanical Technical Authority for approval of all plant modifications.
  • Prepare, schedule, coordinate and monitor the assigned engineering projects
  • Ensure that the capital efficiency framework and minimum requirements are adhered to.

Knowledge - skills and experience required

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Chartered Engineer & Member of Institution of Mechanical Engineering Preferable
  • NEBOSH certificate or equivalent preferred
  • 10+ years of working in a similar technical position on an Upper Tier COMAH site.
