Lead Software Controls Engineer Dudley £DoE
Progressive Engineering and a Europe's Leading Mechanical OEMs are looking to recruit a Lead Software Controls Engineer for their Engineering & Manufacturing HQ near Dudley, owing to succession planning within the organisation.
Based near Dudley and reporting into a Head of ECI, the Lead Software Controls Engineer will be responsible for the delivery of the Software work packages of high integrity and complex control systems to Customer and Industry Specifications, within budget and programme constraints, as well as leading a team of Software Engineers to deliver appropriate solutions from Front End Engineering to Detailed Design production.
The Lead Software Controls Engineer will be designing PLC, HMI & SCADA software for complex systems in machine control & process applications and plant wide automation, as well as producing technical & functional specifications and developing control software from concept through to testing and commissioning, to the latest relevant IEC standards and statuary legislation.
Specifically, the Lead Software Controls Engineer will be responsible for:
- Interpretation of Design Input Requirements into fit for purpose solutions.
- Define budgets and schedule and ensure your team delivers on these budgeted cost and timescales
- Day to day management of your engineering team
- Produce PLC, HMI & SCADA designs to IEC 61131 from concept designs and specification to meet project and customer requirements.
- Software Documentation - User Requirement Specifications, Functional Design Specification and Detailed Software Specification.
- PLC, HMI, and SCADA software coding.
- Production of Software Specific Test Documentation.
- Specification of hardware & software parts list.
- Design of project specific networking (Ethernet, Field bus, etc.)
- Manage the interface between CE&I and the Mechanical function.
Qualification & Experience Required for Lead Software Controls Engineer role:
- HNC / HND / Engineering Degree in Electrical Engineering / Automation Engineering or similar (ideally with Professional Accreditation - IET etc)
- Possess broad knowledge designing PLC, HMI & SCADA software for complex systems in machine control & process applications and plant wide automation.
- Prior team leadership / management experience of leading teams of Software Engineers
- Experience in producing technical & functional specifications and developing control software from concept through to testing and commissioning.
- Administration of Databases (MS Access, SQL, Oracle).
- PLC programming experience (Siemens Step7/TIA Portal, Rockwell RSLogix5000, Schneider -Unity Pro Allen Bradley etc)
- SCADA programming experience (Siemens WinCC, Rockwell - Factory Talk, Schneider -Citect/InTouch)
- Labview Experience (preferred)
