Private Sector reform: opportunities and risks

Please note: this blog was event has now passed and was held before the IR35 implementation date was delayed to April 2021, however the information contained in this blog is still relevant and helpful.
On Thursday the 16th of January, we held our fifth ‘Private Sector IR35 reform: opportunities and risks’ event based in Durham. The event was a great success, with our very own Commercial Manager Charlie Cox hosting the event and a mix of contractors and clients in attendance. The attendees came well equipped with a healthy number of relevant questions throughout the session and in the Q&A at the end.
Making sure that you are prepared for the changes and that determinations are being done and communicated throughout the supply chain effectively, will ensure a smooth transition come April.
The event itself comprised of a presentation looking at the opportunities and risks involved with the proposed changes, which was then followed by a Q&A session. During the event we provided an update into what has happened over the last quarter and looked at what business change is required in order to prepare for the legislation. Some of our key discussion points included:
- Discussing process maps for determinations (i.e. inside or outside IR35)
- How to create an audit trail using our audit spreadsheet template
- Solutions for direct contractors
- Creating contractor communications using our draft template
For those that missed the event, or have further questions about what we covered in session, we’d be more than happy to book in follow up meetings, run training sessions or provide any relevant content we have on the subject. You can also look through our IR35 resources page. For those who can’t get away from the office to attend specific events, we are also running specific webinars for clients and contractor's which can be found below:
