IR35 Readiness Programme: Outcomes

Please note: this event was held before the IR35 implementation date was delayed to April 2021, however the information contained in this blog is still relevant and helpful.

On Thursday the 28th of August, we held our second IR35 event, ‘IR35 Readiness Programme’, based in Aberdeen. The event was a great success, selling out in less than a week - we even saw returning clients from our previous event in May returning, which was great to see.

Since this event, we've helped up-skill around 70 of our customers in their preparations for the Private Sector reform, which will be coming into effect in April 2020. We learned that the individuals responsible for IR35 in companies span across several departments from HR, to Legal, to hiring managers, as well as Finance/Tax departments.

The event itself comprised of a presentation, which was then followed by a Q&A session. During the event we provided an update into what has happened over the last quarter. We also looked at what business change is required in order to prepare for the legislation. Some of our key discussion points included:

  • Discussing process maps for determinations (i.e. inside or outside IR35)
  • How to create an auditable trail by using our auditable spreadsheet template
  • Solutions for direct contractors
  • Creating contractor communications using our draft template

If you'd like a copy of any of our template materials, or you just want to get a little more information about IR35 or the event, please complete the form below we’ll then be in touch to arrange a call or meeting.

Also – don't forget to keep your eyes peeled for our next event, which will be taking place in November. This event will focus on engaging with the contract workforce.
