We are happy to announce that Progressive will be hosting the next HackJam session. The event will take place on Wednesday 17th of July in our Brussels office.

What is a HackJam?

A HackJam is an evening full of learning. It’s a free event, in which we welcome all developers from a city to join us after work for a fun & challenging evening of coding. We usually start with some food and drinks in a convivial get-together to charge all energy levels, and continue by a brief introduction. Afterwards attendees are challenged to fix bugs or architect an application using a new technology. To do this, they get the help from our passionate mentors. This way, developers get the chance to discover a new technology and learn about it in a really hands-on way.

Docker

During this Hackjam, we'll discuss some of Docker' basic concepts, architecture and the problems they solve.

This introduction will provide you with a solid understanding of the origin and the building blocks for Docker.

You'll learn about the following concepts:

  • Familiarisation with concept of container and Docker
  • Use and control your docker container
  • Build your docker image
  • Network and persistent storage with Docker
  • Drive a set of container with Docker Compose
