Progressive Recruitment goes to Lansdowne Cup Rugby Lunch!

2018 marks 39 years since Ireland defeated Australia's Wallabies in Sydney. To celebrate, Progressive Recruitment invited their clients to the well-anticipated Lansdowne Cup Rugby lunch held at Doltone House in Jones Bay Wharf, Sydney. It was a day of celebration of both rugby and the close relationship that Australia has with Ireland.

For those who are unfamiliar with the event, Lansdowne Cup kicked off in 1999 with the cup being donated to the Australian Rugby Union by the Lansdowne Club of Sydney. Lansdowne Cup has established itself as one of the most important sports events in both Australia and Ireland as it brings both nations together. Many members of our team and clients come from Ireland and it was a great way to make them feel at home and part of the Australian community. With two full tables booked by us, it was an excellent opportunity to socialise with our clients in a non-working environment and many of them appreciated the chance to be there too.

On the day, we had guest speakers including retired rugby players Phil Waugh, Alan Quinlan and Keith Gleeson to share their views on rugby and their personal experiences as professional athletes. Phil was an Australian rugby union footballer who played 124 matches in Super Rugby for the NSW Waratahs and 79 Test matches for the Wallabies. Alan was an Irish rugby union player and played for Munster and was registered to All-Ireland League side Shannon RFC. Keith was an Irish-Australian rugby union football player and represented Ireland in the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

We thank all our clients for attending the event with us and we look forward to meet more of you for our next event. If you would like to join us at our next event, please do not hesitate to contact our Operations Manager Julie Wood on 02 9285 1020 – she would be happy to share our upcoming events with you.
