SThree shaping its future leaders through its newly launched LEAP programme

Progressive team standing outside in Singapore and cheering together

Our principal and senior consultants across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) and Middle East and North Africa (MENA) regions recently flew to our Singapore office to take part in the launch of our 12 month bespoke leadership development program LEAP.

LEAP – which stands for “Learn, Engage, Apply and Promote”, is an in-house programme unique to SThree and has been designed to fully equip our people with a range of leadership skills prior to a move into a managerial role.

The LEAP programme is the culmination of a collaboration between our Human Resources team and our Learning and Development (L&D) specialists to ensure that we are giving the right opportunities to our people to lead the business long-term – all whilst upskilling and providing them with a platform to further their personal and career development.

What is the LEAP programme about?

The purpose of the LEAP programme is to identify and shape our future leaders who have proven themselves to be high performers with the ability, engagement and aspiration to rise and succeed in a more senior position. This training course includes identifying and leveraging off our people’s strengths through coaching and mentoring. We believe that it is important that our future leaders are viewed as role models within our workplace and are able to demonstrate our principles “build trust, care then act, be clear then aim high”. As such, we have devised an experiential training for all participants in the LEAP programme – one of which was a team-bonding activity in Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore. On this occasion, we partnered with Jambar Team Building to inspire our people through positive energy whilst problem-solving effectively as a team. The group activity took about three hours to complete and successfully helped our people focus on the benefits of relationship-building and the importance of working as a team.

Danya Kumar, Senior Recruitment Consultant at Huxley Singapore, shared her thoughts on the programme:

“SThree’s LEAP programme was such an enriching experience. I’ve learnt about various successes and challenges that leaders in various regions of SThree had experienced across APAC and MENA, and I was able to inculcate these in my daily processes and set a direction for myself and the team in Singapore. It is amazing to be part of an organisation that offers such driven professional development opportunities.”

What do participants think of the LEAP programme?

We further received the following testimonials from other participants from our Japan, Singapore, Dubai and Australia offices.

“The LEAP program was the perfect platform to showcase our management capabilities, identify gaps in our skillset, and share best practices with peers to fill in those gaps. It allowed us the unique opportunity to connect with our APAC and MENA colleagues at a similar level.” – Robert Chinnery, Senior Consultant – Big Data and AI, Computer Futures Japan.

“The training armed us with a toolset to help develop the people under us into confident, successful recruiters. Secondly it was great to be brought together with colleagues from around the region and build an international network of peers” – Mark Montgomery, Senior Consultant – Operational Risk and Compliance, Huxley Australia.

“The major challenge of transitioning in to a management role is understanding how to deal with people and different types of personalities and behaviours. Being part of the LEAP programme provided me with the guidance of engaging with managers, peers and mentees. Moreover the programme allowed me to gather the tools & techniques required and provided me with the right guidance to manage a team effectively.” – Jiten Sharma, Senior Consultant – Technology & Transformation, Huxley Dubai.

“I can’t speak highly enough of the LEAP program. Our L&D partner has outdone himself with a great mixture of classroom-based and experiential learning activities that tested you in different ways. Also, the opportunity to network with our counterparts from different offices, hear their ideas and learn from their successes was very powerful – I just wish it lasted longer” – Josh Littlewood, Senior Consultant – Cyber Security, Huxley Australia.
